Great news. GNV isn’t done with flying pigs. Not by a long shot.
There was some concern that last year’s third annual Flying Pigs Parade through downtown GNV would be the last. This after the parade’s organizer, Glenn Terry, announced that he would retire and that someone else would have to pick up the baton…um, I mean pig prod.
But now comes word that there will indeed be a fourth annual parade, on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2027.
In a news release Glenn said “Local residents, Emily Robbins, Caitlin Butler, and Mariah Doran, will now produce the zany procession.”
The new organizers are “half my age and probably twice as smart,” Glenn says. “It’s a great thing for Gainesville”

But listen, new blood or not, GNV’s pigs can’t truly fly free without a lot of help from the rest of us.
“Those who want to strut their stuff, to volunteer, or who just want more information can go to the event’s website, http://www.flyingpigparade.org. Groups wanting be in the parade must file an online application by December 12th.”
Why must pigs continue to fly in GNV?
For the same reason that all hell broke loose at the end of “Animal House.”
Because sometimes life, the universe and everything absolutely demands – in the immortal words of Otter – “a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part.”
Is that so GNV or what?

“Over? Did you say ‘over’? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!” Bluto.
