The night GNV painted the sky

Listen, I’m not gonna lie to you. It’s been an armpit of a year.

I mean, when you live in a little dot of blue in a deep red MAGA sea, it’s tough.

The Great DeSanitizer hates us. His legislative minions keep screwing with us. And so far as the Orange One’s true believers are concerned, GNV might as well be the new Babylon.

But, listen. We in the GNV resistance are nothing if not resilient. We hang in there. Because, really, what else are we to do?

And so, if we’re not exactly leaping into 2025 with joy, we’re still game to see what comes next.

And so, as per recent GNV tradition, we all gathered at Depot Park to dance, sing and chant our way into 2050.

We dance because we are.

And we like to show our, um, freak flags. Because that’s so GNV.

Sparks In The Park is our way of saying goodbye and good riddance to 2024. And our way of saying here we come, 2025, ready or not.

Because we still think. And we still hope. And therefore we still are.

Oh, this time, the sparks caused a minor brush fire along one edge of Pegeen’s Pond. An omen? Or a rekindling of the GNV spirit?

Either way, let the Gator growl. As we like to say in these parts.

Because this was a night to remember.

And a night to reflect on who we are and from whence we came.

Because we are GNV, um, f…..g Florida.

So do your worst, 2025. We’re not going anywhere.

I love this town.
