Just another eye-catching day at the Harn

Marylin Monroe, Bridget Bardot, the secrets of the Himalayas…and a guy with an elephant wrapped around his neck. Only at The Harn.

I like to drop into The Harn every few months just to see what’s new and unusual at GNV’s coolest art museum.

You lookin’ at me pal? I don’t see anybody else here.

And, listen, The Harn never lets me down.

During my latest visit, two exhibits in particular caught my eye. And my imagination.

A fan. A wheelchair. And the cast of “Giant” before Texas really went to hell.

Windows and Mirrors is a staff-curated collection of impressive photos.

They’re mad as hell and they’re not gonna take it anymore.

And like they say, every, every picture tells a story.

Pay no attention to the elephant in the room. This beauty is considerably more than skin deep. And, no, that’s not Nehi orange soda. Just, you know, pop art.

My favorite image is a photo of Marilyn Monroe made up entirely of pixels of Bridget Bardot.

Why? Why the hell not?

Remote, mysterious, and host to an epic clash of cultures, civilizations, myths and religions.

The other remarkable exhibit is Gateway to Himalayan Art. A collection of paintings and sculptures from the Roof Of The World.

You lookin’ at us, pal? We don’t see anybody else!

Buddha, Tantric demons, Bodhisattvas…

Waddya wanna do today? I dunno. Waddya wanna do today?

…wrathful gods and mere humans. There’s room enough for everyone in these trackless mountains.

Plus I always like to duck outside in The Harn’s tucked away garden. There to contemplate life, the universe, surrealism and everything.

I love this town.
