Free Florida’s Quack General

How much national embarrassment must UF health officials suffer before they finally boot The Great DeSanitizer’s Surgeon General, Joseph Ladapo, from his cushy tenured professorship?

Remember the measles? That infectious disease was declared all but vanquished in the U.S. back in 2000.

But now its making a comeback in Gov. Ron’s Free State Of Florida.

Reports NPR: “In mid-February, a measles outbreak started at the Manatee Bay Elementary School in Broward County in South Florida. There are now at least nine cases in the county and one additional one in Polk County in Central Florida.

“Several public health researchers say Florida’s current response to the outbreak goes against well-established public health guidance. Florida’s surgeon general, Dr. Joseph Ladapo, has so far not urged parents of unvaccinated children at the school with the outbreak to get their children vaccinated, or to quarantine them. In a Feb. 20 letter, Ladapo left it up to parents to decide whether to send their kids to school.

He said you don’t need to quarantine, just go out there and infect as many people as you like,” Dr. Paul Offit, a vaccine expert at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, told the New York Times.

On the other hand, what’s the return of a highly infectious childhood virus if it aids political hacks in their relentless crusade against science? Listen, if DeSantis and Ladapo had been around when Jonas Salk discovered a cure for polio we’d still have kids in iron lungs.

Anyway, everybody knows that what doesn’t kill kids must certainly make them stronger.

UF Health must be so proud to be joined at the hip to this guy.
