The things you notice when you get around town on a bicycle.

Riding from Planet Fitness to the 13th Street Starbucks I frequently pass Gainesville High School.

And of late I’ve been noticing that this is not your average high school parking lot.

In fact, a whole lot of black asphalt has suddenly burst out in bright colors. Turns out the school is allowing its seniors to dress up their parking spaces.
This from Mallory Becker, assistant principal: “The seniors wanted to personalize their spots. It’s just for them for the whole year.”

“I went by the parking lot the other day and thought ‘Boy, our kids are creative. It’s nice to see them express their individual personalities.”
And guess what? Apparently not just one, but two Barbies are getting ready to graduate from the same school.
I mean, what are the odds?

Some of the messages are inspirational. Some are cryptic. And some are just downright bizarre.

But what’s the high school experience, after all, if not inspirational, cryptic and sometimes downright bizarre?

Anyway, good luck to the Gainesville High School’s 2023 senior class.
Oh, and try not to do any wheelies on that last day of school, seniors. It would be a shame to mess up all that fabulous horizontal art.
