Things I noticed.

State Street is a hive of activity.

The state Capitol building flies a pride flag in June. And that’s ok with Madison.

The Capitol also has a statue of a – gasp! – progressive politician. And photos of kids who have been killed by gunfire. “We have failed them,” a sign notes.
In Floriduh politicians demonize progressives, and have been talking about a sales tax holiday for guns and ammo.

Madison’s contemporary art museum is an explosion of color and an assault on the senses.

Plus it has a lot of glass.

A city of murals.

A city of the arts.

Madison is very bullish on Madison.

But also very candid about the issues of the day.

Jill and I cycled the Lake Monona Loop. And lived to tell about it.

Apparently, lawn flamingos are the official bird of Madison. Don’t ask me why.

The closer you get to the UW end of State Street the more collegiate it becomes.

Madison is a city with a conscience. There are people sleeping in the streets. Which is illegal in Floriduh. And the city has put out porta-potties for their convenience and cardboard boxes for their belongings. And guess what? Life goes on.

Madison has a badger fetish. In GNV we’d call a badger gator bait.

What happens in Madison stays in Madison.

That is all.

I’ll bet you wish you could import all this to Gainesville.
