Pricy sand and audit lites

The Great DeSanitizer paid $83 million to a wealthy campaign donor to purchase 4 acres of beach sand.

And a grand jury is looking into whether The Guv used his wife’s charity to launder $10 million that should properly have gone into the state treasury.

But none of that is important. And it’s certainly not what we taxpayers need to know.

No, what our anti-Ron really wants us to know is that Alachua County and GNV are guilty of excessive spending.

Alachua County for giving money to Planned Parenthood. And GNV for staffing an office that ensures city government adheres to principles of diversity, equity and inclusiveness.

To be fair, our big Red Guv is basing his accusations against little Blue AC and GNV on a couple of the cobbled together “audit lites” that his administration is becoming famous for.

In GNV’s case, faux auditors checked real quick and discovered that commissioners are paying $189,000 to the city’s Director of Equity and Inclusion.

Yes, GNV has an Office of Equity and Inclusion. Not because our liberal commissioners want to rub The Guv’s face in it. But rather because city voters long ago decided to include an Office of Equal Opportunity in GNV’s charter. (The name of the office was subsequently changed but its mission remains the same.)

Now, you can argue over whether or not GNV charter officers salaries are excessive. But commissioners would be guilty of dereliction of duty if they failed to fund a charter-mandated office.

Which cuts no ice with our anti-Ron. Floriduh’s Cultural Warrior In Chief has declared that anything smacking of DEI is bad because it…well…it makes people feel bad about themselves.

As for Alachua County, giving $31,000 to Planned Parenthood for a “Teen Time” counseling program is excessive on its face. Since everybody knows that PP is a radical leftist organization favored by Democrats.

All in all, our great DOGE Inquisitor General in Tallahassee says AC is guilty of more than $80 million in excessive spending. (Although details of said excessive spending are, at this point, decidedly lite.)

That’s nearly as much money as The Guv and his cabinet just spent for four acres of beach sand that is one hurricane away from washing out to sea.

Say, here are a couple of ideas to maybe help our little blue bubble get right with The Guv.

What if GNV again renamed its Office of Equity and Inclusion? Call it instead…oh I dunno…the Office To Preserve White Privilege?

And what if Alachua County renamed Teen Time to…oh I dunno…The Hope Florida Reeducation Program for Teenage Girls?

In both cases, the missions could remain the same. Only the names would be change to protect the…um…gullible.

Excessive spending? Heck, those are only words.

A rose would still smell as sweet if you call it a radish.
