Oh irony! No no, we don’t get that here: Steve Martin

Believe me, GNV gets irony. Especially when it is delivered with all the subtilely of a high colonic.
Consider the irony of a politician who laundered millions of dollars through his wife’s charity announcing an audit of little blue GNV.
To root out…wait for it…waste and fraud.
A governor who built a $450 million concentration camp in the middle of the Everglades for the feds in the space of a week.
Just to get back into Emperor Trump’s good graces.
With no thought to environmental impact, land use policies or any other regulation or law intended to prevent unsafe and poorly planned or placed development.
Handing out no-bid contracts to heavy GOP donors for assembly.
All of it justified by declaration of a phony-baloney “state of emergency.” As though LSTs crammed with heavily armed immigrants were invading Biscayne Bay.
So fine, Floriduh’s Jester King will have his minions investigate GNV.
For what?
Wasting money on the homeless? On DEI? Or, I dunno, maybe for deploying “smart” trash cans downtown.
This isn’t irony.
It’s farce.
Not to forget that our Jester King signed the law that made GNV the only city in Florida history to have its locally owned utility hijacked by the state.
And who then appointed a puppet board of GRU governors to siphon away millions of dollars in utility revenues that GNV once relied on to support police, fire and other vital city services.
Leaving GNV commissioners with little choice but to raise property taxes or gut said services.
That’s not farce.
It’s hypocrisy.
Writ large.
Not to worry. GNV will endure King Jest’s carnival sideshow with grace and dignity.
To be sure, GNV will be dragged through the mud for a spell. But with other, bigger, more tempting targets – Broward, Manatee and other cities and counties on the horizon – we are way too small game to count for much in the anti-Ron’s cynical freak show.
The Jester King aspires to abolish property taxes to burnish his creds for yet another White House run. How better to achieve that goal than to, um, Trump up a case that cities, counties and school districts are spending money like drunken sailors on the leave?
As opposed to the Jester King’s own record of prudent fiscal stewardship.
His malicious attack on the integrity and professionalism of local governments is just part and parcel of his comedy routine, after all.
Are we not entertained Floriduh?
