For what it’s worth GVN

What a field day for the heat

A thousand people in the street

Stephen Stills

It can’t be a GNV Independence Day without the magic bus.

On this real Independence Day, of all real IDs, there ought to be a thousand people in the street. In a thousand cities across America.

But there’s beer and hot dogs to consume. And BBQ. And fireworks to touch off. And talk about a ‘field day for the heat’…

Drummers and clowns and unicyclists oh my!

Still, on this very hot, very humid, 4th of July morning, a small but hardy delegation of GNV patriots – maybe a couple hundred – gathered at Depot Circle to basically say what American patriots have been saying since the 18th century.

Paul Revere rides again.

No kings! No kings! No kings! No kings!

A GNV protest wouldn’t be a GNV protest without the magic bus. Right: Just another clown.

Because somebody has to say it. And it needs to be said aloud on this real Independence Day of all real IDs.

They said it with love. With humor. With signs. With heart.

Left: Robert Mounts, a career Air Force officer. Right: Scott Camil, who was marching in the streets when Trump was squeezing rent money out of the poor captives in his daddy‘s slums. Center: Elon Musk.

With a sense of alarm. And a sense of irreverence.

There were signs enough for all. But Laura the Button Lady (right) was handing out ‘No Kings’ buttons to all who would take them.

It was hot. And it was humid. But somebody had to say it.

Stay hydrated was the order of the morning.

And so they did. With dignity, with class and with style.

We’re not gonna take it.

Because GNV still celebrates Independence the way they celebrated independence back in the 18th century.

Once again a mad king threatens our liberty.

By questioning authority.
