All the signs point to evidence of life

Sometimes I drive my wife crazy when we are abroad. For I am forever stopping to snap images of this, that and the other.

Thing is, I don’t just take photos of historic buildings and drop-dead gorgeous vistas.

I also like to photograph signs. Because I have come to believe that the signs locals choose to post add greatly to a city’s Sense Of Place.

And the signs of intelligent life are everywhere in Paris.

Paris is nothing if not a City Of Fashion,

Wandering down this boulevard I came across a utility box/remembrance of World War II. Ike stood sentry on one side, and a French soldier on the other.

In the 15th Century, this cafe played hosts to the architects of the French Revolution. And a portrait of Robispierre still gazes stonily outward, as though to register his disapproval of what has become of his beloved city.

Which raises an interesting question Were Robispierre and his contemporaries graffiti artists as well as revolutionaries?

Left: Someone pasted photos of victims kidnapped or killed by Hamas on this traffic sign. .

Right: The window of the Paris chapter of Lions International.

People: Oui. Cars: Non.

Paris is still very proud of having hosted the Olympics.

Forget the egg plant that ate Chicago. There’s some scary stuff stalking Paris.

You’ve got to admire a country that celebrates the accomplishments of a guy who threw the French out of his country.

Contemplating the nature of resistance.

Different strokes for different folks.

There are signs everywhere you look in the Eiffel Tower. Perhaps none more important than the one warning parents to keep their kids clear of closing elevator doors.

E-bike delivery vans can be seen all over the city. And you can’t blame companies for bragging a bit about their small carbon footprint.

Be a Parisian: Drink the tap water.

But don’t swim in The Seine.
