Wow Talk about the worm turning.
The Great DeSanitizer is shocked (shocked) to learn about Ben Sasse’s multi-million dollar patronage spending spree. And he wants the State University System to investigate Sasse.
You know, the guy who fled Tigert Hall in the dead of night, as it were, just before the Independent Florida Alligator told the known universe about the ex-UF Prez’s largess toward his pals and GOP operatives.
“We take the stewardship of state funds very seriously,” intones the anti-Ron.
Butter wouldn’t melt in this guy’s mouth. He who has thrown away millions of taxpayer dollars trying to defend all of the blatantly unconstitutional laws he’s demanded.
Good one, Guv.
This may be an impolitic time to bring this up, but recall that Sasse was deemed the “sole” candidate in all of the known universe qualified to lead UF. This by way of a Sunshine law evasion ruse to keep Floridians, and the rest of the known universe, from finding out who else might have applied or been considered for the job.
His sole qualification, so far as anybody could tell: He was one of the few GOP U.S. senators to vote to impeach Trump.
If that doesn’t sound like much of a qualification for running Florida’s flagship state university remember that Sasse’s vote dovetailed nicely with The Great DeSanitizer’s Quixotic attempt to wrestle the GOP nomination away from Trump.
Alas, the anti-Ron turned out to be such an unlikable candidate that God himself, let never mind Sasse, couldn’t help him out.
(Somebody ought to tell the Guv that they’re doing personality transplants over at UF Health now. Florida’s “I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express” Surgeon General – and UF’s other political hire – Joseph Ladapo insisted on it.)
Anyway, good on the Guv for his on again/off again stewardship of state funds. Who knows, maybe the heat will get so bad that Sasse will follow Trump to Venezuela.
Anybody wonder why Sasse fired former UF Senior Vice President Charlie Lane shortly after taking office? Gee, I dunno. Maybe it was because, among his other duties, Charlie was supposed to keep an eye on spending.
You’re doing it wrong Guv

Seriously? They just went ahead and tossed hundreds of Free College of Florida library books about gender studies and LGBTQ+ issues into a dumpster?
As per a report in The Sun:
After the Herald-Tribune reported on the book disposal, New College spokesperson Nathan March sent a statement asserting that the account was false. He said the college undertaking a routine “weeding” of its campus library…
Following the Herald-Tribune’s report, the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida published a statement condemning the disposal of books on New College’s campus — calling it a direct attack on free speech and academic freedom.
This is why The Great DeSanitizer’s Free State Of Floriduh gets so much bad press.
Floriduh men! You don’t throw banned books into an open dumpster for all the known universe to see!
No, you quietly send them off to be pulped.
And then brag about what a great green governor is our anti-Ron.
Amateurs!
In your face GNV

Let’s see now.
Ed Belarski is fired from his job running GRU.
So he runs for GNV mayor as an act of revenge.
And loses badly to the guy who fired him.
Then The Great DeSanitizer appoints him to the GRU governing board following the Chuckles’ hostile takeover of the GNV-owned public utility.
A position he holds for almost no time at all before the Board fires the respected GRU veteran who replaced Belarski.
After which Belarski resigns from the board.
To be appointed interim GRU manager.
A position he holds for almost no time at all.
Before the board gives him his old job back permanently.
Because he is obviously the “sole” utility professional in all the known universe qualified to run GRU.
Well worth a salary that makes him the highest paid city employee in GNV history.
Along with retroactive vacation benefits to cover the time he’d already taken off as interim.
And a golden parachute.
Lest he ever be mistakenly fired again.
Does anybody still believe that the point of this hostile takeover was to impose fiscal responsibility on GRU and run it “like a business”?
Clearly, the objective was, simply, to “own” the GNV libs.
Listen, if we city voters and utility owners don’t take GRU back come the election, we really will deserve to, um, “get the business” from this GOP gang of politicians and their puppets.
For years and years and years to come.
