One fine day on two fine trails

We are visiting my daughter in Bethesda for Thanksgiving. Today was a fine day,. Cold but big sun. And as I am wont to do, I confiscated Jenny’s bike for a 21-mile out and back on the Capital Crescent and Rock Creek trails.

I’m just gonna say this. I saw some stuff that I won’t even attempt to explain, much less justify.

The Capital Crescent Trail is, um, capital.

And a straight shot into Georgetown. Which is an odd mix of the affluent….

…and the decaying.

I was struck by this mural of a dead president talking about a world that might have been painted on the side of a gutted building. What’s the message here? Alas Camelot?

But I also saw this really cool flaming tree. So there’s that.

I call this: Two steel heads behind chain link. That is all.

And then there was this. It creeped me out. But then at my age, what doesn’t?

But I digress.

The point is, I came. I saw. I lived to cycle another day. More to come.
