It’s official GNV, flying pig sighted

Well, I guess we really do need to have a Flying Pig Parade in GNV. I mean, now we’ve got an actual flying pig poster sighting.

Glenn Terry has for months been organizing the city’s first When Flying Pig Parade (downtown on Dec. 30). As part of the run-up he will be at Cypress & Grove tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 21) at 5 p.m. for the Unveiling Ceremony of the FPP’s official poster. This complements of GNV artist Heidi Stein.

Said unveiling to be accompanied by appropriate “conch horn fanfare.”

Terry leaked “a taste of Ms. Stein’s incredible creation,” via e-mail the other day. Pictured above is the aforementioned teased taste. Can’t wait to see what the whole, um, hog tastes like.

When it comes to absurdist parades, Terry knows his business. Before migrating to GNV he helped conceive and launch Coconut Grove’s looney King Mango Strut. Now that he’s relocated to our little academic never-never land, Terry simply can’t abide the notion that GNV might somehow be perceived as being less weird than Coconut Grove. That’ll happen “when pigs fly!” he presumably proclaimed.

And the rest is history.

Or rather, it will be history after GNV’s Flying Pig Parade actually happens. Until then the rest is, um, future.

But I digress. The point is that we now have an official FPP poster. So we absolutely must get on with the show and do the damned parade.

Otherwise pigs may never fly over GNV.
