This is the ugly drainage ditch butting up against University Avenue in downtown Gainesville. It used to be Sweetwater Branch Creek.

This is the Duck Pond, just a few blocks away. It also used to be Sweetwater Branch Creek.
Question: Why do we settle for an ugly drainage ditch in the heart of downtown Gainesville when we could have something like the Duck Pond?

It’s time to stop settling for what was deemed good enough for Gainesville decades ago. We have the ability to reclaim a long abused creek and, at the same time, create a neighborhood-connecting greenway through the heart of historic Gainesville.

If now now, GNV, then when? We can do this!
